Raymond Leroy Neace, Jr. passed away peacefully at Johnston-Willis Hospital after a long battle with Multiple System Atrophy (Shy-Drager Syndrome) on February 23, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Raymond Leroy Neace, Sr. and Nancy Marie Neace. Raymond is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandra Traylor Neace; brother, Donald Schmidt (Francine); son, Raymond Leroy Neace, III (Ashley); daughter, Brooke Neace Hirsh (Steve); and son, Cory Blake Neace (Bridget). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Katherine, Jacob, Nicholas and Charlotte as well as his beloved pets and two nephews, Keith Schmidt (Debbie) and Steve Schmidt (Judy). Raymond retired from Chesterfield County Police as a Lieutenant in 1993 after 30 years of service and loved baseball, westerns, 50’s music, horses, classic cars, and historical trivia. He enjoyed telling police stories and spending time with his family and pets. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at East Matoaca Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition or Hospice of Virginia.
