Raymond L. Tyler Jr., 75, of Dinwiddie, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Grinstead Tyler Hornsby; his father Raymond L. Tyler Sr.; stepfather, Sgt. Thelmer Hornsby, and a brother, Jerry Tyler. Raymond was a United States Army veteran, a retired crane operator for Stone Container and a member of Sapony Creek Hunting Club. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jessup Tyler; son Roy Tyler (Janet); daughter Janice Tyler Bain (Jim); grandchildren, Jessica Bain Elmore (Jon), Jacob Warren Bain (Cristina), Amanda Tyler Smith (Johnathan) and Alison Rae Tyler (Colton); three great-grandchildren; step-mother, Zaydell Tyler; sisters, Sharon Hornsby West and Kathy Hornsby Evans; brother De - Wayne Hornsby; devoted niece, Carol Story McCray Jackson, and numerous other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 in the Petersburg Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road with Reverend Robert Rowland and Reverend Tony Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia.
