Rev. Porter Jr.

The Reverend Patrick M. Porter, Jr., 80, of Colonial Heights, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Born in Chesterfield County, VA he was the son of the late Patrick M. Sr. and Pearl Williams Porter; and was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Nugent Porter. Mr. Porter is survived by his son, Patrick M. Porter, III; and one granddaughter, Jordan M. Porter. Rev. Porter was a retired minister and a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church. He pastored several churches in this area over the last 35 years. He also retired from DuPont after 31 years of service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Swift Creek Baptist Church, 18510 Branders Bridge Rd., Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with the Rev. Dr. Steve Felker and the Rev. Wayne Williams, officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA.
