Reverend Bryant "Pooh" Kay Schlutow, 92, of Colonial Heights, VA passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Tyler's Retreat Rehab Center. Born in Cleveland, OH he was the son of the late Charles John and Elsa Irene Bryant Schlutow; and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marray Schlutow and Charles John Schlutow, Jr.; and a sister, Maxine Uban. Rev. Schlutow was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served on many committees and was an ordained minister. He retired from the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance as a State Auditor and was also a United States Army veteran having served in Patton's Army. He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Harding of Colorado, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and devoted friends, Walter E. Ward and wife Judy and family of Chester, Danny Wyatt and wife Susan and family of Chester, Stanley Palmore and family of Petersburg, Bryant Palmore of Petersburg and Keith and Kathy Mizelle and Bryant of Florida. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 620 Lafayette Ave., Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with the Rev. Fred Adkins and the Rev. Greg Allday, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
