Reverend Mershon

Reverend Lewis E. Mershon, 81, of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at River View on the Appomattox. Born in Petersburg, Virginia he was the son of the late Ira and Omeda Mershon. He was an Evangelist, Doctor of Theology, BCh.M, and a United States Navy Veteran. Mr. Mershon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn R. Mershon; four sons, C. Allen Fleming of Prince George, Fred S. Mershon, and Paul S. Mershon both of Richmond, and Steven R. Henry; four grandchildren, Austin S. Mershon, Theresa F. Trexler, Daniel S. Henry, and Benjamin Henry; one great-grandson, Jesse A. Trexler. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday August 14, 2010 in Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Edward Council officiating. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Christian Refuge Church,610 W. Broadway, Hopewell, Virginia 23860, in memory of Reverend Lewis Mershon.
