Richard E. Bryant Sr., 91, of Colonial Heights, passed away on July 1, 2018. He was born November 6, 1926 in Colonial Heights. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Marcus Bernard Bryant Sr.; his mother, Clora Bell Bryant; his brothers, Alfred Bryant and Herbert Bryant; and his sister, Molly Bryant Vaughan. Richard served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, and he served his community as an Auxiliary Police Officer with the Colonial Heights Police Department. He worked for DuPont and retired after 43 years of service. He was best known for his love of baseball and being a little league coach in Colonial Heights for many years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lena C. Bryant; daughter, Lindy B. Durham and husband, James; sons, Richard "Skip" Bryant Jr. and wife, Barbara, Jamie Bryant and wife, Sherri; stepson, Chuck Harwood; grandchildren, Christine D. Griffith, James T. Durham III, Robert E. Bryant Sr., Mark W. Bryant, Nicholas Bryant, Jake Bryant, Zachary T. Harwood, and Anthony J. Harwood; great-grandchildren, Kellan G. Durham, Robby E. Bryant Jr., and Emma J. Bryant; great-great-grandchild, Sadie Ann Bryant; his brother, Phillip Bryant; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Steve Felker officiating.
