Richard “Dickie” Howard Danner, 71, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022. He was born on February 17, 1951, in Hopewell, Virginia, to the late Howard Frank Danner, Jr. and Charlene Virginia (Brough) Danner.
Dickie retired as a coating technician from Dupont (Teijin Films) after over 44 years, where he had many other different jobs and tasks. After his retirement, he went on to open his own small business, “Dickie D’s Sharpening Services.” He would sharpen scissors for Dupont, hair salons, and many other businesses. Dickie was also well-known for his love of customizing cars and old, classic cars. Dickie enjoyed classic rock music, Civil War relics, and was known for his hilarious, dry sense of humor. He also adored his cat, Bitty, and cherished his family and close friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kathy Danner; his sister, Sandy Haney and her husband, Danny Haney (brother-in-law); brother-in-law, Johnny Haney (Jackie); sisters-in-law, Carla Chaney (Jim) and Donna Chisholm (David); nephews and nieces, Ryan, Katie, Jenna, Carly, Jesse, Cody, Emily, and Beth; several great-nephews and nieces; and many close, special friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A private family service will be held at a later date.
