Richard James "Butch" Lindsey, 87, of Colonial Heights, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late James Lionel Lindsey and Laler Bell Anderson Lindsey and was preceded in death by a brother, William Bryant Lindsey and a sister, Mary Catherine Weigand. Mr. Lindsey was a United States Navy veteran, and a member of Second Baptist Church in Petersburg. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pauline D. "Polly" Lindsey; brother, Charles L. Lindsey and wife, Nancy of Madison Heights; sister, Dorothy L. "Dot" Hurt of Lynchburg; a godchild, Tanya Portello of Korea; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. The family wishes to thank the "Care Team" of Odyssey Hospice for their comfort care of Mr. Lindsey. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday September 4, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. the day of the service at the funeral home.
