Richard Morris "Rick" Seay Sr. 70, of Chester, joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 15, 2014, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Rick was born June 30, 1944 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to the late, Embry Ware and Lois Gene Morris Seay. Rick's father was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army and served our country through two wars. Rick's mother was a seamstress and owned a woman's boutique until deciding to stay home and raise her children. Rick attended Ferguson High School in Newport News, where he met his loving wife, Sandra Coberly Seay. Rick retired from American Yorktown Oil Refinery and relocated to Chester after accepting a position with Philip Morris, USA (Park 500), where he retired in 2006. Rick loved his wife, family and God. He was a devout Christian and active member of Edgehill Church of Christ. He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Sandy Seay; sons, Rick Jr. his wife, Stacy, and their daughters, Candace and Corynn, and Tim, his wife, Beth, and their sons, Brennen and Carter; a brother, Glenn and his wife, Debbie; sister, Karen Darouse and her husband, Randy; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Edgehill Church of Christ, 25609 Grant Ave, Petersburg, Virginia 23803, with Dr. Russ Jurek officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Chester, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Edgehill Church of Christ, China Mission.
