Rita Bowman

Rita S. Bowman, 89, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Philip Bowman; two brothers, Donald and Eugene; and parents, Francis E. and Ellen E. Slavin.
Rita attended Penn State University and the New York Barbizon School of Modeling. She retired from Chesterfield County School System where she was administrative support staff at Matoaca High School. She was a member and former President of the Regina Coeli Chapter of Catholic Daughters at St. Ann Catholic Church, where she remained active until her illness.
She is survived by her three children, Barbara B. Woods, Thomas P. Bowman (Nancy) of Colonial Heights, and Sandra B. Robbins (Gene Wills) of Valentines, VA; three grandchildren, Laura E. Lastra (Mike) of Spring Hill, FL, Brian P. Bowman (Nellie) of Newport News, and John A. Bowman of Colonial Heights; three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Harper and Ryder Lastra of Spring Hill, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and her favorite grand-dogs, Cici and Sutton.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, August 17, 2018 in St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway, S. Chesterfield, VA 23834, with Father Danny Cogut, Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Inurnment will be private.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents of the Dunlop House, who welcomed Rita to their community, SRMC ICU nurses, and the staff at Colonial Heights Health Care for the brief time she spent there.
