Robert Edwards

Robert A. Edwards, 70, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at his residence. He was the son of the late Edmon C. and Hazel Livesay Edwards, and was preceded in death by a brother, Edmon C. Edwards Jr. Robert worked for the telephone company for 50 years, including C&P, AT&T, Avaya and T.R. Solutions. He started out as a Lineman & then a Systems Technician. He was a loving "Paw Paw" to his two granddaughters, Skylar and Cassidy. He spent all the time he could playing with them on the beach and teaching them things like how to ride a bike and how to fish in his pond. Robert was a faithful Washington Redskins fan. He was a dedicated jogger and could be seen running up and down Crater Road most anytime. He enjoyed cutting grass, keeping the pond trimmed, and spending as much time outdoors as he could. Robert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda S. Edwards; a daughter, Kimberly Edwards Gibbs and husband, Troy of Prince George; two granddaughters, Skylar and Cassidy Gibbs; two sisters, Paige Williams of Dinwiddie and Gloria Elmore of Petersburg; and a brother, Dennis Edwards and wife, Linda of Prince George; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Crater Community Hospice, for the love and care they provided to Mr. Edwards. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend Duane Guridy officiating.
