Robert "Bobby" Franklin Ryder

Robert “Bobby” Franklin Ryder, AKA; Moon Dog, Sunrise October 8th 1956 Sunset October 5th 2023. Son of the late Betty Rose Strumb and Virgil Franklin Ryder. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Polly and Angle Milliner , Alice and Thomas Ryder; two brothers, Donnie Leon Ryder, Buddy Allen Ryder; niece Daesha Rae Robinson; and uncle Larry Wayne Ryder “Red”.

Bobby leaves behind two sisters, Sandra Kay Martin (Robert) and Shelly Ann Brown (Ronnie); two brothers, William “Billy” Virgil Ryder and Richard Lynn Ryder (Darlene); children, Shelia Beth Nanaeto (Travis) of Ignacio CO, Timothy James Ryder (Carmen) of Ignacio CO, Jacob BlueStar Ryder (Mariah Peña) of Ignacio CO, Misty Lynn Ryder Harris (Alexza Harris) of Petersburg VA, Christopher Lee Ryder of Petersburg VA; his grandchildren, who were his whole world, Jonas and Avalena Nanaeto of Ignacio CO, Michael Cruz, Karak, Aislinn and Bird  of Ignacio CO, Divine, Jaeden, Torrica, Serena, Thunder, Neeka Mae, Tia James, and baby Reggie all of Ignacio CO and Arizona, Nailah, Dallas, Avalynne, Kash all of Petersburg VA, Cayden Ryder and Cayleb Ryder of Petersburg VA; he also left behind numerous nieces and nephews who he loved; as well as great nieces and nephews. My father left behind his friends and others he considered family as well as his long-time best friend and companion Vicki. 

He was a great person and tried to help folks even when he didn’t have it to help. He fed a lot of people with his gardens he grew every year. And was known as “the watermelon man” around Petersburg VA. He will be missed and may he rest easy now. We love you, Dad.

Remains will rest, October 16, 2023 from 9:00am – 11:30am for immediate family only, and from 11:30am – 4:00pm for other family and friends at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 South Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805.
