Robert Gay

Robert "Bobby" Allen Gay, of Hopewell, passed peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2019. Mr. Gay retired from Honeywell, Chester after 40 years of service, and enjoyed fishing and playing ping pong. Bobby was a loving man whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. His kindness will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to have him in their lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward Gay and Sarah Harrison Gay; and brother, Julian H. Gay. He is survived by his fiancé, Ada Bienefeld; daughter, Tammy Taylor and her boyfriend John Atwood; stepdaughter, Sara Fenn and her husband David Fenn Jr.; four grandchildren, Khloe Gayle Atwood, Cody Cole, Cieara Cole, and Chance Cole; two sisters, Emma G. Davis and Peggy G. Faulkner; brothers, James Edward Gay and his wife Connie, William Gary Gay and his wife Patricia, and D. Ricky Gay and his wife Lillian; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. The family will receive guests beginning at 4 p.m. Following the service, a reception will be held at VFW Post 637, 1400 Lynchburg Street, Hopewell, Virginia 23860. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Richmond SPCA (www.richmondspca.org/donate) or American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
