Robert Vincent Harper, 78, of Chesterfield passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011. He was the son of the late Earl J. and Mary Schenk Harper. Mr. Harper was a retired Master Chief of the United States Navy serving in Korea and Vietnam; he was a member of Gregory Memorial Presbyterian Church in Prince George, the American Legion Post 146, VFW 2239, DAV 147, and the Edwards Masonic Lodge #308 of Stony Creek. He is survived by his wife, Frances Elliott Harper; son, G. Michael Harper of Jacksonville Florida; daughter, Victoria Harper Waterfield and husband, Anthony of Charlottesville; step-son, Phil Rafferty of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Evan Waterfield, of Richmond, Emily Waterfield of New Orleans Louisiana; one brother, Edward H. Harper of Kentucky; two sisters, Mary Louise Tinsley and Betty L. Moore both of Kentucky. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in Merchants Hope Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia with the Pastor J. Bruce Catron officiating. A Masonic Service will be held Monday 7:00 p.m. in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory 2033 Boulevard 23834 and where the family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
