Robert Allen "Bobby" Harris, Jr. of Colonial Heights, VA passed away at the Bon Secours Community Hospice House on Tuesday, May 30th after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Rebecca Coleman Harris; his son Andrew Harris and his wife Nikki and granddaughters Hope and Leah of Carlsbad, CA, his son Brett Harris and his wife Rebecca and grandson Gideon of Durham, NC; his aunt Geraldine Lanhan; mother-in-law Janice Coleman Tyler, and many close friends. Born in Petersburg, VA, Bobby grew up in Matoaca, VA, graduating from Petersburg High School in 1965. He attended Wake Forest University on a baseball scholarship, graduating in 1969. Bobby then went into a teaching and coaching career, where he taught math and coached baseball, football, and golf at Colonial Heights High School from 1970 to 1982. He then went into the personal financial planning, founding Harris Financial Services in 1987. A long time member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and current member of Western Heights Baptist Church, Bobby served on the Annuity Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He was also an active member in the FCA. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 2nd at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home 2033 Boulevard from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held at Western Heights Baptist Church 24416 Cox Rd N. Dinwiddie 23803 on Saturday, June 3rd at 11am. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Parkinson's Foundation, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
