Robert Barry Hearn, 67, of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at VCU Medical Center. Born on June 15, 1949, he was preceded in death by his father, Robert Elmer Hearn. Out of high school, Mr. Hearn enlisted in the United States Army and served for three years. For the next 26 years, he served in the Army National Guard. While in the National Guard, he also worked as an auditor for Springfield Financial Services for 42 years. He was an avid wood crafter, enjoyed doing various bits of yardwork and was very proud of his cottage in Nags Head, which was his pride and joy. He is survived by his loving mother, Mary "Ann" Hearn; brother, Steve Hearn and wife, Barbara; three nieces, Amy Grieco and husband, Jeff, Cary Mitchell and husband, Roger, Beth Sadler and husband, T.J.; and nine great-nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 in Southlawn Memorial Park, South Prince George, Virginia, with the Reverend Michael Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends Friday night, August 5, 2016 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
