Robert "Robbie" C. Holzner, 89, of Colonial Heights, VA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 surrounded by his family. Mr. Holzner was the son of the late, Leo Joseph and Hattie Loving Holzner; and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Connie; a brother, David "Buster"; and three sisters, Margaret, Alice and Dorothy. Mr. Holzner served in the United States Navy for 4 years during WWII. Later, Robbie retired from DuPont, became a member of Oakland Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post #284 and has been with them for the last 48 years. He played Santa Claus at the corner of Conduit and Roslyn Road for 16 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Holzner; one son Robert "Robbie" L. Holzner and wife, Debbie; two grandsons, Austin and Travis Holzner; a special niece who was like a daughter, Angelia Higgins and her daughter, Chloe; sister-in-law, Joyce Holzner; special friends, James and Janice Browder, Robert Taylor (who was like a son) and his wife, J.J. and Chris Mosconi; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Crater Community Hospice for their love and care shown towards Mr. Holzner. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Robert Livesay, officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Oakland Baptist Church in memory of Robbie.
