Robert "Bobby" Holmes Keene, 60, of Dinwiddie, passed away, Thursday January 30, 2014 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born in Saltville, Virginia and was the son of the late Thelma Davidson Keene and James Garfield Keene. He was owner and operator of R. H. Keene Construction. He was also an avid pilot and certified flight instructor at the Dinwiddie County airport for many years. He was a great musician. His love for music inspired and touched many friends and family members. He was multitalented and could play guitar, bass and piano. His love and knowledge of music spanned many genres such as gospel, country, classic rock and "oldies but goodies". He hosted many family gatherings in his home. Mr. Keene is survived by his son Donnie E. Keene and wife Athena, daughter Susan G. Keene, and their mother Hilda T. Keene, one grandson Adam R. Keene and an expected granddaughter, one sister and four brothers, Brenda Keene, Utah Olinger, Jack Olinger, John "Hooker" Keene and Jimmy Keene and a host of other family and friends. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday February 4, 2014 in the Petersburg Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 3935 S. Crater Road, with Reverend Dr. Don H. Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends Monday February 3, 2014 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
