Robert Michiel De Lisle, 70, a native of Fitchburg, Massachusetts and resident of Colonial Heights, died Thursday May 7, 2009 at his residence. He was the son of the late Edward De Lisle. Mr. De Lisle was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army and served two tours during the Viet Nam conflict, he also retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post 284, the Colonial Heights Moose Lodge and the Woodfin Hunt Club. A man of many talents, throughout his life Mr. De Lisle worked at becoming a master reproduction furniture maker, creating many heirlooms for his family to cherish. Equally cherished will be the memory of his devotion to his wife, sons, and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Joyce Ann De Lisle, sons, Phil De Lisle and wife Kantaka, of Orange Park, Florida, Chris De Lisle and wife Samantha, of Ft Campbell, Kentucky, Bobby De Lisle of Atlanta, Georgia; daughters Shelley Hickey of Atlanta, Georgia, Jody Miller Preston of Alabama, grandchildren Natalie De Lisle, Anawin De Lisle, Neelan De Lisle; Christopher De Lisle, Katie Hickey, his mother Evelyn Duffy Moore, a brother and sister, Edward De Lisle and Barbara De Lisle both of Massachusetts, a brother in-law Guy T. Bishop Jr., sister in-law, Mary Bishop, a niece, Emma Bishop and nephew Alex Bishop. A Memorial service with full military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 13, 2009 in the chapel at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd Amelia, VA 23002. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 at the Colonial Heights chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
