Robert Lee Petrucciani

August 29, 1939 — February 18, 2025

Colonial Heights

Robert Lee Petrucciani, 85, of Colonial Heights, VA, unexpectedly passed away on February 18, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital after a very brief illness. He was born on August 29, 1939, to the late Romalo and Ahlene A. Petrucciani in Brookfield, Illinois.

He is survived by his brother, Charles Petrucciani (Pat); sister, Judith P. Cummins (Patrick); numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving life partner, Peggy F. Brennan of 39 years.

Robert graduated from the University of Arizona in 1962 with a degree in Mining Engineering. He was a founding member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at the university and has stayed connected with his fraternity brothers throughout the country over the years. After graduation, he worked in Brookfield, IL until he received his draft notice from the Army. His last assignment in the Army was at Fort Lee, VA; Robert decided to stay in the local area where he worked for Honeywell, Philip Morris, and finally worked for the Commissary Headquarters located at Fort Lee, VA, where he retired.

He involved himself with many activities. Robert was a people person, making many friends in the area; he also played softball for Paul’s Restaurant in his early years in this area. He was known as “Petro” by many and loved history of the area and meeting people. There was always a big smile greeting you and wanting to talk about anything and everything.

He loved football and soon was officiating games at high schools and eventually in the CIAA League (college) for over 25 years. He was often known for officiating games from his living room chair. Robert also loved playing golf and was a member of the local “Senior Golf League”, eventually serving as one of the directors. NASCAR was another of his interests and enjoyed watching races on Sunday afternoons.

Robert enjoyed going to breakfast on Sunday mornings at the American Legion Post 284 in Colonial Heights, where he was a member. He also loved antique cars and enjoyed having several of them.

Robert loyally attended the 7:45 service at Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, and enjoyed the monthly Methodist Men dinner meetings at church.

He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. We will take comfort in the wonderful memories created by him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will be private.
