Robert Smith

Robert E. "Bobby" Smith, 92, of S. Chesterfield, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019. Born May 28, 1926, he was the son of the late Curry E. and Ruth G. Smith, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary R. Smith; son, Jeffery Smith; and son-in-law, Donnie Marsee. Bobby was a lifetime member of Matoaca Baptist Church. He retired as a supervisor at Allied Chemical after about 20 years of service and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his son, James Ellison Smith and wife, Julie; daughter, Sue Marsee; grandchildren, Paul Marsee and wife, Betsy, Sam Marsee and wife, Ashley, Allyson Smith, and Emily Smith; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Bennett, Brody, and Jaxon Marsee; brother, Curry Smith and wife, Dorothy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at Matoaca Baptist Church, 6409 River Road, S. Chesterfield, Virginia 23803. Interment will follow in East Matoaca Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Matoaca Baptist Church.
