Robert Stewart

Robert Jean Stewart, 85, of Chester passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at his residence. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother who raised him, Bessie Rickman Tuck.

Robert was a devoted member of Walthall Baptist Church for more than two decades. He retired as a crane operator for Reynolds Metals after over 30 years of dedicated service. A United States Army veteran, Robert served his country and was stationed in Germany during his military service. Robert had a diverse range of interests, including watching horse racing and baseball, particularly the UVA Cavaliers, and tending to his garden, where he took pride in growing watermelons.

He is survived by his treasured wife of 64 wonderful years, Myrtle Virginia Stewart; two sons, Carl Wayne Stewart (Robin) Ricky Gene Stewart (Lisa); grandson, Cody Lane (McKenzie); cousins, Alice Surles (Thomas), Michael Tuck; uncle, Percy Tuck; brother, Wayne Stewart; and other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Walthall Baptist Church, 14001 Woods Edge Rd, South Chesterfield, VA 23834. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery at Amelia. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
