Robert Richard Stratiff, 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away Monday October 26, 2015 at Southside Regional Medical Center with his dear friend of 28 years, David Cibula, by his side. Born July 12, 1932 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Richard Robert and Bertha Louise Shreve Stratiff. Robert was a long time member of Saint Ann Catholic Church in Colonial Heights. He graduated from the University of Pittsburg, served in the United States Army, completed two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea and was highly decorated, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and many more as he retired as a Full Colonel. He received many trophies for swim meets and continued swimming everyday into his early 80's. During football season, he was a huge fan of the Pittsburg Steelers. Mr. Stratiff enjoyed each and every song and movie with Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly and he appreciated theater productions and musicals and loved going to the movies. He was loved and will be sadly missed by his sister, Janet Marola of Mt. Clemmens, Michigan; brother, James Stratiff of Colonial Heights; step-mother, Alberta Stratiff of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; step-brother, David Stratiff of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and many nieces, cousins, and great-cousins that he loved so dearly. A service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being handled by E.
