Robert George Walker, 66, of Prince George, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at John Randolph Medical Center. Born in Logan West Virginia, he was the son of the late Imogene Steele Maitland and Lloyd E. Walker Sr. and was preceded in death by a brother, Fred M. Maitland Jr. Mr. Walker was retired from Vulcan Materials with 38 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served on the USS American CV-66 as an Aircraft Handler. He was a volunteer for eight years at the Southside Virginia Emergency Crew, a past Master of the Blandford Masonic Lodge #3, a partner of Tone and Tan on S. Crater Road for 15 years, a security guard at Richard Bland College and Richmond Security, and a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. His favorite hobby was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He is survived by loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Corinda "Connie" Richter Walker; two daughters Rhonda W. Comfort-Ellington and husband, Calvin of Petersburg, and Shonna W. "Dink" Bersik and husband, Scott of Disputanta; two grandchildren, James Tyler Comfort and Taylor Jordan Ellington; a sister, Marilyn W. Wells and husband, Charles N. Jr. of Dinwiddie; a brother, Lloyd E. Walker Jr. of Norfolk; devoted sister-in-law, Linda Rogers and husband, Billy; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Dr. Sarah T. Nave officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
