Robert "Bob" Alfred Wallace, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on December 11, 2013; with his family at his side. Mr. Wallace was born in Dinwiddie, Virginia, on June 20, 1936. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Eslie Alfred Wallace and Blanche Marie Andrews, and his granddaughter, Whitney Lynn Eversole. Mr. Wallace is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Jeanette Brantley Wallace; Daughter, April Valenta; son, Michael Valenta (Shannon); grandson, Stephen Valenta and granddaughter Audrey Williams (Joshua) and a great-grandson, Asaih WIlliams. Mr. Wallace is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Wallace (Mildred), sister, Rose Marie Leath (Winston) and brother-in-law, Jimmy Brantley (Leah). Mr. Wallace served his Country in the United States Marine Corps. After employment with VEPCO and the Atlantic Coastline Railroad, Mr. Wallace was an Agent for State Farm Insurance Companies, retiring in 1998, after 31 dedicated years. Mr. Wallace was an avid sportsmen and enjoyed his spare time both in the woods and on the water; he was extremely proud of his longtime Endowment Membership in the NRA. Mr. Wallace was a Masonic Veteran of Blanford Lodge Number 3, Petersburg, Virginia; a member of the Lodge for over 50 years. The family will greet friends at the Petersburg Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, 23805, on Thursday, December 12, 2013, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at the Oakland Baptist Church, 12601 Prince George Drive, Disputanta, VA, 23842, on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:00 am; Interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Wallace and his family request donations be made to the Oakland Baptist Church Building Fund, 12601 Prince George Drive, Disputanta, VA, 23842.
