Robert “Bob” Wayne Harner, Jr., 67, of Hopewell, Virginia, died peacefully at home on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Born on April 28, 1955, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert Wayne Harner, Sr. and Mildred Dixon Harner. He is also preceded in death by his son, Phillip Wayne Harner, and his sister, Barbara Harner Wotring.
Robert dedicated 32 years to Government service. Six of those years he served in the United States Army, and after 26 years he retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He loved his family and all of his pets. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending his time tinkering and fixing things. Bob also loved to cook, watch movies, watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, shooting firearms, and traveling in his RV and adventuring.
He is survived by his loving wife, Amanda (Ruzica) Harner; sons, Christian and wife, Michelle, and Ivan and wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Maclay Cerny, Raelyn Harner, and Everlee Harner; sister, Margaret Harner Agens and husband, Ken; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will be private. The family would like to thank Bon Secours Hospice for their care and professionalism and provide a special thanks to Mary Taylor and Denise Pierce for aiding in his care during his final days at home and being there for the duration of his illness.
