Roger Jones, 82, affectionately known as Pussell in North Carolina, of Colonial Heights passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Born September 3, 1941, he was the son of the late Ralph Allen and Bertie Smith Jones, and was also preceded in death by his daughter, April Riley; son, Michael Beeler; grandchildren, Jeffery Beeler and Anna Marie Riley; and sister, Grace Brown.
Roger was a longtime member of Life Co. Church in Chester, Virginia. He owned and operated Roger Jones and Son Painting for over 45 years before retiring and passing the business to his sons, who continue to run it successfully.
Roger looked forward to the weekly bingo nights at the VFW every Saturday. In addition to bingo, he found excitement in playing the lottery. He would often stop by his local convenience store to buy a ticket, dreaming of the big jackpot. Even though he knew the odds were slim, he enjoyed the thrill of the game and the possibility of winning. He was also an avid karaoke enthusiast and loved singing along with Hank Williams' classic country tunes. His passion for karaoke was evident in the way he poured his soul into each song, making him a beloved entertainer at local gatherings.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Barbara JoAnn Jones; four children, Bobby Jones, Roger Jones, Jr., Lisa Ward and husband, John, Mark Beeler and wife, Kimberly; grandchildren, Blake Jones, Brionna Jones, Brayden Jones, Linsey Beers, Lacy Powers, Michael Beeler, Jr., Jessica Channya, Jennifer Bucy, Bryan Bucy, Jessica Hatley; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Jones, Roy Jones and wife, Wendy, Rodney Jones and wife, Molly; sister, Vermaline Daniels and husband, Ellis; close family friends, April Logan and Cindy Clatterbuck; numerous nieces nephews and other extended family members.
