Rom Stanley Cutler, age 68, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 18, 2016 in Petersburg, VA. Rom was born in Wausau, WI to Stan Cutler and Nettie L. Cutler on September 7, 1948. Rom was always willing to help others and his sense of humor brought smiles to many. When he wasn't working on a construction project or getting his hands dirty, Rom enjoyed traveling and had a great sense of adventure. He will be fondly remembered for his love of learning, collecting bears, spending time outdoors, and driving any sort of motorized vehicle. Rom is survived by his wife, Stacey Cutler, of Colonial Heights, VA; his son Kris Cutler and wife Ruthy; his daughter Jillian Bohall and husband Jordan; his daughter Meghan Butler; his granddaughter Jessi Bailey; his mother Nettie L. Cutler; his brother Gary Cutler and wife Beth; his nieces Suzanne Cutler and Stephanie Cutler; as well as many other extended relatives and close friends. Rom is preceded in death by his father, Stan Cutler. A visitation service for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA. A military burial service will be held at Quantico National Cemetery at a later date. Rom served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a proud American and supporter of veterans. He also had a strong passion and love of animals, including his rescue cats Caddy and Paws and his beloved late sheltie Chelsea.
