Ronald McCray Johnson, 66 peacefully entered into God's hands on March 19, 2019 at his home in Petersburg Virginia. He was the son of the late Ulysses S. Johnson and Alice M. Johnson. Ronnie affectionately known as "Jay" received his education and high school diploma from the District of Columbia Public Schools in Washington DC. After graduating from high school, he joined and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. When his military service ended, he began his career at the United States Postal Service in 1974 as a Postal Service Police Officer. Ronnie was proud to serve in that position and had many stories he loved to tell about his experiences. He received accommodations for his outstanding service and dedication to the job. Ronnie retired from the US Postal Service after 33 years of service on April 30, 2007. As a retiree, Ronald enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He played football, basketball and softball. He was a leader, coach, mentor and a true friend to all those who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, one uncle Clyde Gay (Daisy) of Wakefield, Virginia, significant other La-Deidre Bridgewater of Petersburg, Virginia and a host of family and friends. A memorial service will be held 1p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 at The Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 3935 S. Crater Road.
