Ronald Nicholas

Ronald R. Nicholas, 68, of Colonial Heights, passed away at his home on May 27th . He was the son of Raymond and Beatrice Nicholas. Ron was a long time resident of Colonial Heights and was a retiree of E. I. DuPont. Ron was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and Highland United Methodist Church. Over the years he served in many different capacities, youth and adult Sunday school teacher, several choirs, youth leader, and Deacon. Ron was a talented and well known soloist in the area. He served as co-chairman of the 50th reunion of the Petersburg High School Class of '59. Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann Britton Nicholas and their children, a daughter, Elizabeth (Loren) Leigh; and two sons, Mark (Karen) and Dwight (Mandy). Ronnie is survived by five grandchildren, Miranda & Morgan Leigh, Nathan Nicholas, Michaela Nicholas & Sarah Collier; and three great-grandchildren. Ron is also survived by his sister, Vera (Larry) Meier of Richmond. He leaves many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Highland United Methodist Church, 125 E. Westover Avenue, Colonial Heights with the Reverend Keith Ritchie officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2010 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
