Rosa Ferguson

Rosa Grizzard Powell Ferguson, 96, of Petersburg, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. She was the daughter of the late John and Annie Mae Talbott Grizzard. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse Powell and Wilson Ferguson; her grandsons, Eddie Thrailkill and Gerald Tomlinson, and eight brothers and sisters. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Emporia, Virginia and attended Lighthouse Baptist Church, Petersburg. Mrs. Ferguson is survived by a daughter, Ida Hartsoe; her two granddaughters, Yvonne Thompson and Vivian Padgett (Rodger), whom she raised as her own children; two grandsons, Michael Tombs (Karla) and Harry Thrailkill (Julie); granddaughter, Wanda Brooks (Rodney); ten great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Doris Mayes, Gertrude Walwer, Minnie Sue Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M Friday December 12, 2014 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road with Pastor Ron Short officiating. Entombment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Thursday December 11, 2014 at the funeral home.
