Rosalyn Mackenzie "Ro" Collier, of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28th, 2015. Rosalyn was the daughter of the late Alyce Dabney and James Norwood MacKenzie and the loving wife of the late James E. Collier, Jr. for over 64 years. She is survived by her sister, Anne MacKenzie Chakales; two sisters-in-law, Frances Pulley and Gayle Driskill; her three children, James E. Collier, III and his wife, Marcia; Robin Collier Benton and her husband, Kent, and Christopher M. Collier; four grandchildren, Cristin Collier Drummond and her husband, Stephen, Jamie Collier and his wife, Jo, Brett Benton, and Carolyn Collier; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Catherine Drummond; and many loving nieces and nephews. Rosalyn was born in Richmond, Virginia where she worked as a dance instructor and later as an employee and print model for the Miller & Rhoades advertising department. Her signature salutation on every written correspondence was "Devotedly" and that's how her family remembers her throughout her life; a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend Mike Murray officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. After interment, a reception celebrating her life will be held at the Ragland Mansion, 205 S. Sycamore Street, Petersburg.
