Rose Edmonds

Rose Helen Reese Edmonds, of Colonial Heights, and recently residing in Wichita Falls, Texas, went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2011. Rose was born on May 21, 1933 in Wise, North Carolina to Samuel Herbert Reese and Virginia Helen Daniel. She was previously married to Ernest Wilson Edmonds (now deceased). She has one daughter, Audrey Rose Bingham, and five sons, Ernest W. Edmonds, Clement W. Edmonds, Stanley T. Edmonds, Russell E. Edmonds and Duane E. Edmonds. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel H. Reese and Helen Daniel Reese; by one grandchild, Timothy Michael Edmonds; by her brothers, William W. Reese, William E. W. Reese, John E. Reese, Herbert Reese; by her sisters, Carrie L. Reese, Elizabeth Wilson, Louise Edmonds, Ann Perkins, Mary Jane Robertson, Lucille Sullivan; by a nephew, Wade Reese and nieces, Mary Ann Atkinson and Janice Reese. She was employed with Allied Chemical of Hopewell from 1962 to 1991 where she served as an operator and also as a union representative. Rose had a lifetime love and respect for literature, sailing, nature, wildlife, gem and mineral hunting, Native American artifacts, fishing, and music (especially Elvis). She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by those left behind: her daughter, Audrey Bingham of Chester; her sons, Ernest Edmonds (Vikki) of Wichita Falls, Texas, Clement Edmonds of Dinwiddie, Stanley Edmonds (Jeannie) of Columbia, South Carolina, Russell Edmonds (Martha) of Richmond, and Duane Edmonds (Janet) of Salem; granddaughters, Aimee Roehm (Dennis) of Richmond, Teresa Toombs of Dinwiddie, Layla Hildebrandt (Kris) of Columbia, South Carolina, Kimberly Ryan of Richmond, Lisa Myers of Charlotte, North Carolina, Whitney Stapleton (Wesley) of Waco, Texas, Catherine Edmonds of Wichita Falls, Texas, Carissa Samples of San Angelo, Texas, and Loren Edmonds of Richmond; grandsons, Charles W Edmonds (Kathy) of Dinwiddie, James L. Edmonds of Chesterfield, Russell D. Edmonds (Shannon) of Chesterfield and Gregory Edmonds of Chesterfield. Also left to mourn her passing are great-grandchildren, Jonathan Vasquez, Sarah Samples, Aiden Stapleton, Cameron Waddell, Ella Waddell, Shawn Roehm, Travis Roehm, Victoria Toombs, Ashley Edmonds, Charles Edmonds, Jr., Austin Edmonds, Tyler Schaphoff, Arabella Hildebrandt, Logan Myers and Kingston Myers; and great-great-granddaughter, Madison. Rose is also survived by her sister, Virginia Wilkins of Colonial Heights; by her nieces, Dorothy Pendleton, Jean Allgood, Jeannette Reese Balthaser, Marie Johnson, Carolyn Stevens, Diane Mills, Larraine Tate, Peggy Atkinson, Betty Lou Page, Laura Martin, Geneva Sprowles, June Raley, Chiquita Edmonds, and Carol Sue Sullivan; and by her nephews, Preston Wilson, William Reese Jr., Samuel Reese, Roger Reese, John Reese Jr., Merlin Reese, Timothy Reese, Charles Reese, Walter Reese, Lonnie Phillips, Joseph Phillips, Charles Robertson, William Robertson, John Edmonds Jr., Herbert S Reese Jr., Jerry Sullivan and Mark Sullivan. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will be receiving visitors from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the funeral home.
