Roy Burton

Roy Smith Burton, 88, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2008 at his residence. He was the son of the late Blair and Juanita Rice Burton. Mr. Burton was a member of the Colonial Heights Baptist Church. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army Air Corp, retired Manager of the Colonial Heights Safeway after 45 years, a member of the Colonial Heights Senior Golf Association, the Colonial Heights American Legion Post 284, and a Past President of the Colonial Heights Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife, Drema L. Burton; three children and their spouses, Patty & Keith Gates of Prince George, Kenny & Cindy Grant of Colonial Heights, and Sharon & Alan Boyd of Chesterfield; three grandchildren, Ryan & Brittany Grant, and Grant Boyd; a longtime special friend, Sidney Watkins of Colonial Heights. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Randall Hahn officiating. Entombment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George.
