Roy S. Cox Jr., 62, of Chester, VA passed away Monday, September 14, 2020. He was born on July 6, 1958 in Petersburg, VA of the late Roy S, Cox Sr. and Betty Cox. Roy is survived by his wife Kim Cox (mother-in-law Pat Pollay and brother-in-law Robbie Pollay), son Seth Cox, sister Cindy Cox and brother Randy Cox (sister-in-law Mary and nephew Mason).
He retired from Phillip Morris as Fire Chief, EMT and machine operator after 31 years. After retirement he finally found his dream job as an archery professional working at Dance’s Sporting Goods. He had a life-long passion for everything hunting, including competing in archery competitions nation-wide, being active in the NWTF and teaching others the love of the sport. Roy was always willing to give a helping hand with community projects and civic organizations from Freedom Hunters to the Wounded Warriors and JayCees.
Recently, he became a Harley enthusiast, developing a passion equal to that of hunting. He contributed to organizing Downtown Thunder and many other local Harley charitable events.
A memorial and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
