Roy H. Emory, 79, of Altavista, Virginia, formerly of Petersburg, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at his residence. He was the son of the late James Herbert and Beulah Denton Emory, and was preceded in death by five brothers, Connie (Mike) Williams, James (Pete) Emory, Floyd D. Emory, Clyde (Bunky) Emory, and Lawrence (Mancy) Emory. Mr. Emory was a retired pipefitter for the Chesterfield Plant of Allied Chemical, now the Honeywell Corp., and was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Faye Hall Emory; daughter, Kelly P. Emory of Altavista; sons, Steven R. Emory and wife, Kenita of Gladys, Virginia, and Jeffery H. Emory and friend, Donna Fitzkee of DeWitt; sisters, Elizabeth Martin of Petersburg, and Shirley Willoughby and husband, Willie of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, Gavin H. Emory of Dinwiddie, Joshua K. Emory of Gladys, Faren Mae-Ellen Sutton of Richmond, Cierra Christine-Faye Emory of Gladys; great granddaughters, Gabrielle R., and Gretchen C. Emory both of Dinwiddie; and numerous special nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in Southlawn Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday 10 to 11:15 a.m. in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road.
