Ruben L. Flowers, 69, of Petersburg, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born August 14, 1943 in Arizona to the late Ruben F. Flowers and Bertha Jones Flowers. Mr. Flowers was a Vietnam veteran and retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service to his country. He was a member and seven time Past Commander of the American Legion Post #2 in Petersburg as well as a member of the Legion Riders. He is survived by his wife, Anne Flowers, son, Ruben F. Flowers of England, daughter, Susann Nicol and husband, Mark of Chester; grandchildren, Leanne, Michael and Nathan Flowers, of England, Anna and Emily Nicol both of Chester; sister, Modell Gibson of Arkansas; brother, Jim Flowers, of Indiana. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013 in the American Legion Post #2, 820 Winfield Road Petersburg, Virginia 23803. Interment Private.
