Rubie Taylor Turner, 90, of Dinwiddie, passed away, Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Dunlop House in Colonial Heights. She was born May 27, 1927 in Surry County, NC to the late Walter Ambrose Taylor and Candis Cobbler Taylor. Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Walter Earl Turner; a daughter, Pamela Turner; five brothers, Roy Taylor, Colonel Taylor, John Taylor, Hardin "Cool" Taylor, Paul Taylor; five sisters, Ida Taylor, Alice Peele, Emily Collins, Lola Clarke, and Pearl Phillips. She was a member of Ocran United Methodist Church in Sutherland, and retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. She is survived by a daughter, Janice "Jan" Chappell and husband, Earl; son, Donald E. Turner and wife, Janet; all of Dinwiddie; four grandchildren, William Chappell and wife, Lori, Brian "Bubba" Chappell and wife, Mary, David Turner and wife, Jennifer, Jamie Turner and wife, Courtney; great-grandchildren, Matthew Chappell, Katie Chappell, Neal Chappell, Kendall Chappell, Taylor Turner, Ashton Turner, and Julianna Turner; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Kirby Southall and all at the Dunlop House for their loving care of Mrs. Turner. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805, with Reverend Larry House officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the start of the service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 201 Temple Avenue, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 or Ocran United Methodist Church, 20221 Cox Road, Sutherland, VA 23885, in Rubie's memory.
