Ruby Bass

Ruby Mae Wright Bass, 81, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at MCV Hospital in Richmond. Born in Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Sarah Featherstone Wright; and was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Alonzo Wright, Jr. and Johnnie Marvin Wright. Mrs. Bass was a member of Matoaca United Methodist Church and had retired from American Filtrona Corporation in Richmond, VA. She is survived by her loving husband William C. Bass; three children, Connie Dietz-Taylor and husband, Jeff of Colonial Heights, Sheila Daghita and husband, Harry of Colonial Heights, and Eric Bass and wife, Lori of Chester; eight grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Elizabeth Harrell of Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. William C. "Gus" Wright, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Mrs. Bass. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
