Ruby Hawkes Lewis, 102, of Disputanta, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at Golden Living Walnut Hill Convalescent Center. She was born on November 9, 1910 to the late Wilburn and Mary Hawkes and was preceded in death by her husband, Willard James Lewis; two brothers and one sister. Mrs. Lewis was former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Wilsons, and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church in Disputanta. She is survived by a niece, Lois H. White of Prince George; nephews, David E. Hawkes of Blackstone, Carroll R. Hawkes of Colonial Heights; three great-nieces; and one great-nephew. The family would like to thank all the wonderful care givers at home, Golden Living Walnut Hill Convalescent Center, and the AseraCare Hospice in Petersburg. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 24, 2012 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road with the Reverend Robert W. Livesay officiating. Interment 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wilsons, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday, November 23, 2012 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home in Petersburg.
