Russell Randolph Sr.

Russell Edgar Randolph Sr., 83, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Wednesday August 27, 2008. He was the son of the late James and Gracia Darlington Randolph. Mr. Randolph was a Member of the Colonial Heights Baptist Church. He was retired from the military serving in the U.S. Navy during WW II and then the U.S. Army with over 23 years of service. While in the Army he received many awards and medals while attached to the 82nd Airborne as a Jump Master. He was a life member of the VFW and was retired as an administrator with the Richmond Petersburg Turnpike Authority. Mr. Randolph is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delores Maxine Randolph, sons; Russell E. Randolph Jr., James C. Randolph and wife Judith, and Danny E. Randolph and wife Dorothy, all of Dinwiddie, a daughter; Delores Y. Randolph of Petersburg, grandchildren; Regina, Russell III, Rachael, Robin, Jason, James II, and Herbert, great-grandchildren; Rachael, Renee', Zachary, Katherine, and Elizabeth, two brothers, three sisters along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday August 28, 2008 (tonight) from 6-7:30 P.M. in the Petersburg chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory 3935 S. Crater Road. A funeral service will be held on 11:00 a.m. on Friday August 29, 2008 at the funeral home. Interment Randolph Family Cemetery 12307 Halifax Road Petersburg 23805.
