Russell Witt Sr.

Russell R. Witt, Sr., 84, of Wendell, North Carolina, formerly of Colonial Heights, Virginia passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011. He was the son of the late J.D. and Odis Freeman Witt and was predeceased by a brother, Walter D. Witt. Mr. Witt was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and part owner of J.D. Witt and Sons Roofing. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Elizabeth F. Witt; sons, Russell Roy Witt, Jr. and wife, Gwen of Colonial Heights, Va., John E. Witt and wife, Janet of Midlothian, Va.; daughters, Cathy W. Davis and husband, Don of Burlington, North Carolina and Gail W. Hinnant and husband, Tim of Wendell, N.C.; brother and partner in 90 year old business, Gene R. Witt of Petersburg, Va.; sisters, Louise McLaughlin of Petersburg, Va. and Doris Jones of Petersburg, Va.; eleven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11:00a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in Immanuel Baptist Church, 620 Lafayette Avenue, Colonial Heights, Va. 23834 with the Reverend Fred Adkins officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Va. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:30p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
