Ruth Beasley

Ruth Virginia Beasley, 95, of Hopewell, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Florence Rushmore Brown. Mrs. Beasley was preceded in death by her husband, Herman M. Beasley; and a daughter, Shirley B. Clements; and a grandson, David S. Clements. She was a charter member of Colonial Christian Church and taught Sunday school for over 47 years. She is survived by her children, H. Marvin Beasley (Fay) of Overland Park, Kansas and Betty B. Austin of Jessup, Maryland; her grandchildren, Audra B. Barricks (Todd) of DeWitt, Andrea B. Deel (Chris) of Midlothian, Freddy Clements (Rainer) of Jacksonville, Alabama, Susan Baldwin (Mike) of Jefferson, Maryland, Robert Canterbury of Jessup, Maryland and Kenny Canterbury (Daralyn) of Fairbanks, Alaska; her siblings, Joe Brown of Chester, Gerald Brown of Petersburg, Buddy Brown of Petersburg, and Evelyn Brown Atkins of Petersburg; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her devoted friend, Diane Beasley. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 at Colonial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 295 Dunlop Farms Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Alan Little and the Reverend William Gibson officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Road, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
