Ruth Gettings

Ruth Fleming Gettings 89, of Chester, died Saturday July 19, 2008 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Sol Benjamin and Myrtle Olivia Stallings Fleming; she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Linwood Gettings, and a granddaughter Amanda Gettings. Mrs. Gettings was a retired worker from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company, and was a member of the Brown and Williamson Retirees Association, Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women at Ivey Memorial Church. She is survived by her sons E. Linwood Gettings and wife Tammy of Chester, Lonnie W. Gettings and wife Carolyn of Chester, Gerald W. Gettings and wife Becky of Midlothian, six sisters, four brothers, three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 23, 2008 at Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church 17120 Jefferson Davis Highway Colonial Heights Virginia 23834, with the Rev. Tom Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park, Enon, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
