Ruth Fowler Vaughan, 85, of Colonial Heights died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at MCV hospital, Richmond. She was a native of Petersburg and daughter of the late George C and Ethel Eudailey Fowler and was the widow of William Alton Vaughan. She was predeceased by a son, David Vaughan, and a sister, Mildred Ayscue. She was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, and was retired from Thalhimers/Macys Department stores. Ruth is survived by a son, Donald Vaughan and friend, Judy Dean; a daughter, Gail Whitmore and friend, B.C. Clarke; grandchildren, Cindy Vaughan, Mark Vaughan and wife, Diana, Billy Whitmore and Lisa Whitmore and fiancée, Bobby Harney; great-grandchildren, Nathan Vaughan and Kasey Harney; a sister, Alice Cardwell. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg.
