Sarah Honeycutt Elder, 90, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Born in Ohio on January 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William and Leota Doll. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence William Elder, Jr.; her son, William Ray Elder; and siblings, Ruth Ann, Wilma, Mary Lou, and John.
Sarah was an avid bowler with a local bowling league in Colonial Heights. She loved reading, doing word searches, and walking for miles around the city until she could no longer do so. In her younger years, Sarah enjoyed canning vegetables from her husband’s garden and spending time with her family swimming and fishing at Lake Gaston.
She is survived by her daughters, Alice Martin and husband, Gary and Ruby Joblin and husband, Larry; daughter-in-law, Michelle Elder; twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley, Jeanette, and Bill; special neighbors; and many other extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with Pastor Wayne Williams officiating. Inurnment will take place in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA at a later date.
