Sarah Evelyn Pinkleton Humphries, 86, of Sutherland, Virginia, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2008 at MCV Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Humphries was predeceased by her parents, John Wister and Edith Walthall Pinkleton and her sisters, Mildred P. Eley and Lucy P. Lasiter. Mrs. Humphries is survived by her children, Susan Humphries Heatherly (Frank) of Rawlings, Virginia; Judith H. Lewis (Robert Jr.) of Dinwiddie, Virginia; Linwood W. Humphries, Jr. (Sandra) of Matoaca, Virginia; and Linda A. Humphries of Matoaca, Virginia. In addition she is survived by eight grandchildren, Stephanie L. Vaughan (Gordon); Brian K. Humphries; Robert M. Lewis, III; Robin Lewis Howerton (Norman); Eric S. Heatherly (Anna); Linwood W. (Billy) Humphries, III (Morgan); Megan Heatherly; and Randi F. Humphries. Mrs. Humphries is also survived by ten great-grandchildren: Damian and Sarah Vaughan; Jessica Lewis; Kendall and Noah Heatherly; Alish and Frank E. Heatherly, II; Braden and Cadence Frazier; and Riley J. Humphries. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Prior to retiring from the Treasurer's Office of Chesterfield County, Mom dedicated her life to caring for and loving her children. She was a wonderful mother and nanny and will be greatly missed. The children would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of the ER and Neuroscience Unit of the MCV Medical center for the kindness, compassion, and care afforded our mother during her sudden illness. Mrs. Humphries was a dedicated member of the Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, August 12, 2008, from 7:00- 8:30 pm at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with funeral services being conducted at the funeral home, by Dr. Randall Hahn, Pastor of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made in honor of Mrs. Sarah Humphries to the Colonial Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
