Sarah Dolan Smith

Sarah Dolan Smith, 92, of Prince George County, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Born in Warwick County, Virginia, on November 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Franklin Dolan and Margaret Dale Lawman Dolan. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Curtis Smith, and her eight siblings.

Sarah was a longtime member of Oakland Baptist Church in Disputanta, where she was very involved with various groups. She volunteered at Dupont Elementary School, working with children in their reading program, and volunteered with local food banks. Sarah also enjoyed quilting and sewing.

She is survived by her children, Wilbur Smith (Karen Macon), Dale Butler (HK Butler), and Stephen Smith (Mary O’Connell); grandchildren, Eric D. Smith, Trevor D. Smith (Crystal), Hezekiah Butler (Kelsey), Brett Butler (Rebecca), Samuel Smith (Alyssa), Evan Smith, and Claire Smith; great-grandchildren, Ella and Hannah Smith, Charlotte and Macon Butler, and Owen and Colin Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23803. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in Peninsula Memorial Park, 12750 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23606.
