Scott Corey Faulkner, 61, of Chester, Virginia passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Salem, Massachusetts, but grew up in Scituate, Massachusetts. He is a 1983 graduate of the Textile Sciences program at UMass Dartmouth (formerly Southeastern Massachusetts University [SMU]). Scott spent more than 30 years in various Textile Engineering roles with Allied-Signal/Honeywell's Hopewell and Chesterfield textile processing facilities, and most recently retired from Dominion Fiber Technologies in Richmond, VA. Scott loved music, riding motorcycles, and telling trucking stories; actually, any stories. He was a lifetime member of the River City Blues Society, and was a keyboard player in several bands, including The Lance Manley Band, Back Alley Hoodoo, Blue Light District, Pigfoot Riot, MT and the D's, The Rick Marshall Band, The Hanover Band, The Trongone Band, River City Katz, and Suggesting Rhythm. Scott was a wonderful husband, son, friend, and mentor who touched many lives. He is pre-ceded in death by his father, A. Leslie Faulkner and is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sandra (Vanderpool); his mother, Dorothy C. Faulkner of Scituate; mother-in-law, Nancy Vanderpool (Cornish) of Hampton, VA; father-in-law, John Vanderpool, Sr. of Syracuse, two brothers-in-law, Howard G. Blair and John E. Vanderpool, Jr. and three sisters-in-law, Margaret A. Blair, Debra G. Creedon, Susan A. Hunt; uncles, aunts, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend Dale Custer officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the serve from 10-11:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, support live music in your area.
