Seward Dick

August 6, 1913 — June 26, 2011

Seward G. Dick, 97, of Colonial Heights, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 26, 2011. He was the son of the late Weston L. and Della Imo Houser Dick. Mr. Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Vea C. Dick; a brother, Jack Dick and a sister, Orpha Frost. Mr. Dick was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a WWII United States Army Veteran, a member of V.F.W. Post 2239 in Colonial Heights, and a member of the Colonial Heights Senior Citizens Club. He and his wife were the owners/operators of Dairy Queen in the Tri-Cities, which later changed to Dick's Dairy Treat from 1949 to 1971. Mr. Dick is survived by three daughters, Dorothea Whitaker & Bob Rausch of South Carolina, Jeannie Crabtree and husband, Durward of Colonial Heights, and Karen Smith of Arlington; five grandchildren, Edward Whitaker and wife, Michelle of Canada, Christine Wagner and husband, Jason of New Jersey, Margie Piotrowski and husband, John of Colonial Heights, Brad Smith of Arlington, and Jessica Davis and husband, Jake of Colonial Heights; three great-grandchildren, Luke Wagner of New Jersey; Sara Piotrowski of Colonial Heights, and Benjamin Wagner of New Jersey, one sister-in-law, Evelyn Moss of Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of the Dunlop House Alzheimer's Unit for their attentive care and compassion provided to their father and grandfather during the latter years of his life. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George with the Reverend David Prather officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
